The Grotto - Minecraft Server

We have finally updated the server to 1.8. This does not bring any of the new features such as the new blocks or bunnies for you to use.

I also added a few plugins to enhance the protection on the server. Players can no longer damage mobs if they are not whitelisted on your creative plot. And in the survival world players can't damage, leash, name, ect. mobs in your town region if they are not allowed to build in it. Crop trampling by players has also been disabled until a solution for crop griefing is found.

As you know 1.8 has finally been released but at the moment there is only a protocol hack that is available . This upgrade breaks Holograms and doors on servers. There is no rush to update as this doesn't add any of the new 1.8 features such as the blocks. I am currently testing a backup of the server locally to get everything working with the 1.8 Protocol version and when everything is stable I will update the server to it. When it is updated it will be able to support 1.7 and 1.8 players. Until then we will stay on 1.7

Finally after months of work the server has finally been officially launched! We had a good turn out of people during the launch peaking at 12 players at one point.

One feature that is now fully working now with the launch is voting. There are 3 websites to vote on daily giving you 20 pearls each. With these pearls you can use them to buy ranks, coins or even special events!

We also have special events planned in the future such as building contests or tournaments. If you have any ideas let us know in the suggestion forum.

As some of you know Mojang is changing and going to be enforcing this changed EULA. Here's the link to it.

This means the server won't be able to sell certain things in the store. We will be reviewing the store and possibly reorganizing items.

Back on to the server we are getting closer to launch. We are currently waiting on a custom plugin and a few things to be done around the server until we are ready to go live. We are looking around the 17th to launch but no promises.

The site was also added with some new features such as the online player count in the top right and minor visual fixes.

As you can tell the website is coming along as we rebuild from the latest particle reboot due to the dedi getting out of wack. The site is still lacking the shop and the map isn't rendered yet.

We are getting closer to launch though with only a bit more stuff to do.
