The Grotto - Minecraft Server

Hey Pirates,

After weeks of testing by the staff, today we've rolled out the 1.8 upgrade! With this we get all the features added into 1.8 including banners, rabbits and slime blocks! But this means we will no longer support 1.7 clients to make sure you upgrade your Minecraft.

Other new features:

• The end now resets it self after a random amount of time after the Ender Dragon is defeated.
• There is now a Global tab list for all servers on the network, which is only the paper mario build server and the main one at the moment. You can also view your gold level in the tab list.
• Announcements have been moved from the chat to the action bar (above the hotbar).
• General bug fixes

Hey Pirates,

Thanksgiving is over with and that means the start of the holiday season. We have given the three spawns special holiday themed spawns for the month. Check them out in game! The staff have also planned many fun activities for the month that will be covered in this post along with various other updates we have.

Santa needs a new workshop this Christmas season and needs your help to build it! The contest will run from now until the New Year. It will be judged by all the non-entering staff and a winner will be announced the week after.

How to Enter
1) Head over to the creative world, grab a plot and start building!
2) Make a post in this thread and fill out the following info:

Builders:
Build name:
Plot Location:(To find do "/plots info" it's the ID)

Hey Pirates,

I've been telling some players that we may be updating to 1.8 this Friday but sadly we won't be able to. After doing some testing on our test server we've found that many plugins, including MCTowns, have broke on the update and we have to wait until the devs update them. It hopefully won't be longer than a week but we'll keep you posted.

We are planning great this for this December so stay tuned.

Hi pirates,

The Grotto will be down for maintenance on:

Nov. 23nd, 12:30am - 2 am

We will be moving the server over to a new, more powerful machine. After the move it could take up to a day for the domain to point to the new server. All inventories, world files, ect. will be kept intact. We are not resetting anything on the server, just moving servers. Any questions ask in the comments. I'll update this post when the move it done.

With the last hours of Halloween ticking down last Friday marked the end of the October Voting for the month. And the winner with the most votes in October was sugarman1022. He will be receiving a free rank upgrade to Captain.

It's time for the first annual Halloween Build Contest! The contest will take place in the Creative world and will end on Halloween (Oct. 31st) at 12pm CST. The staff will be judging all builds personally and winners will be announced the following week.

Hey Pirates!

Halloween is just around the corner now that it is October. Besides plans for decoding the spawns for Halloween we have fun events planned for the month!

Starting this October and every month after is a contest to try to be the top voter of the month. Besides getting bragging rights the winner of the month will receive a free rank! Voting for October has already started on the 1st and will run through the whole month until November starts.

Note: Voting is not working on PMC so you can still vote on there but you will not receive rewards or counts towards the top voter for these votes. This is due to an error on PMC's part so hopefully we can get it resolved soon.


Later in the month we will announce a Halloween themed build contest! This contest will take place in the creative world and anyone can enter. It will run for about 2 weeks and there will be prizes for the winners....

We have finally updated the server to 1.8. This does not bring any of the new features such as the new blocks or bunnies for you to use.

I also added a few plugins to enhance the protection on the server. Players can no longer damage mobs if they are not whitelisted on your creative plot. And in the survival world players can't damage, leash, name, ect. mobs in your town region if they are not allowed to build in it. Crop trampling by players has also been disabled until a solution for crop griefing is found.
